Midwest Family and Community Resources (MFCR) was founded by Robert Thurman, a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of clinical experience. Mr. Thurman had a vision. He had come to the realization that the field of behavioral healthcare has often failed to properly match patient needs to therapist capabilities. It was also apparent that behavioral healthcare has traditionally lacked the emphasis and priority status that medical services have garnered.
To address observed deficiencies within the behavioral health treatment paradigm, Mr. Thurman organized a new entity, Midwest Family and Community Resources (MFCR), committed to ensuring that its patients are matched and aligned with appropriate therapists and that these patients are deemed to be the focal point of their treatment objectives. At the point of intake, a customized assessment is developed and used to determine which therapist or psychiatrist is best suited to meet the patient’s needs. Robert Thurman established MFCR to ensure the availability of patient-centered care for all consumers, including diverse and low-income plan members. He continues to advocate for a greater recognition of the importance of behavioral health treatment services on a level of efficacy and priority comparable to that of medical healthcare.
Over the past two decades, MFCR has amassed a substantial network of skilled and highly qualified psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, and counselors who deliver a wide range of behavioral health services to Illinois consumers of all ages. These services are available in person or via telemedicine.
MFCR has also developed long-term referral and consulting relationships with a large number of Illinois community organizations for optimum care of patients through coordination of treatment. MFCR focuses intensively on connecting with families, schools, and other community stakeholders, utilizing a wholistic patient approach to care. MFCR employs value-based outcome objectives that focus on the things that matter most to and are of the greatest importance to the individuals that are receiving treatment.
MFCR strives to improve the efficacy of behavioral health services by ensuring that we continue to stay abreast of and utilize state-of-the-art treatment options and methods centered around the establishment of measurable and achievable treatment goals. Treatment and measurement objectives are accomplished utilizing the latest industry-approved and recommended technologies and tools available that have been proven to be safe and effective. MFCR is further committed to utilizing best-practice industry-approved treatment concepts and methodologies, applied in conjunction to operating standards aimed at assuring the highest level of business operating efficiencies.
MFCR’s tech-enabled services include a HIPAA secure videoconference platform and a variety of on-line resources, along with digital health technology that capitalizes on internet based remote patient monitoring (RPM), biometrics, artificial intelligence (Al), and app-based technology (e.g., GPS, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness lessons, medication reminders, condition tracking, etc.) to empower plan members with a rich array of self-directed care resources.
