Frequently Asked Questions
What are your hours of service?
- MFCR’s Administrative hours are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Service hours are M-F 8:00am to 9:00pm; Sat & Sun are available by request
How do I initiate services?
- You may simply call the intake coordinator at (708) 745-3040 ext. 2 and provide some basic information to help us match a therapist to your needs. A self-referral form is also available under the services tab in our website, which you can fax in to our intake department.
What will I need to do for the first session?
- You will need to arrive about 15 minutes early for your first session. We have some paperwork for you to read and sign that informs you of your rights as a therapy/counseling consumer. There is an additional form if you will be utilizing your mental health insurance benefits. For those with mental health coverage, you will need to provide your insurance information.
How confidential is my session/what I discuss?
- Your sessions are covered under a privileged confidentiality and we cannot divulge what is discussed in session unless you make statements that your physical safety or that of another is in imminent danger.
- Your treatment records are kept in strict confidence, barring a valid court order with judge’s signature to release them.
How soon will I be able to meet with a therapist?
- Once you have provided our intake department with the information necessary to match a therapist, you will hear back from us within 24 hours to set up your initial appointment.
What are your qualifications?
- All of our therapists have a Master’s degree in a clinical field. Many have clinical licenses in their discipline demonstrating advanced knowledge and high professional standards.
How will I know if my insurance covers my costs?
- Initially, you should look for a contact number on your insurance card for mental health benefits; often times mental health benefits are contracted through different providers than regular medical benefits. Your insurance representative should be able to assist you in determining your benefits. We will assist with this process if needed.
What if I do not have mental health coverage on my insurance plan?
- Some companies do not provide for mental health benefits through specific plans. If this is the case, we do offer a sliding fee scale. This sliding scale utilizes total family gross income and number of dependents to determine your per session fee. Please contact our intake department to assist in determining an equitable rate.
Can I request a certain therapist?
- Of course. Placing your trust in a therapist is much easier if someone comes recommended to you. You may also select a therapist of a particular gender, ethnic background, or specialty area.
Do you offer group services?
- We do. Contact our intake department to inquire about current groups.
Do you offer marital/partner relations therapy?
- We do. In this service, we do not set the agenda or the goals for the outcome of the therapy. We believe in the ability of the couple to communicate their needs with the assistance of a trained therapist.
Do you prescribe medications?
- We do not prescribe medications. However, we have relationships and affiliations with those that do prescribe medications (typically psychiatrists) and can provide you with some options.
How long will therapy take?
- The length of service will depend on several factors among these are client motivation, severity of treatment issues, and a good client-therapist fit. We will work to ensure that we provide the best possible treatment at all times. A typical individual/couple/family session is 50 minutes in length. A group treatment session may be as long as 80 minutes.
